Your oven is heavy, so it ships by freight truck, not a parcel carrier. That is the one thing that surprises people about the total. Here is exactly how it works, what is included, and how to see your real cost before you commit to anything. No guessing.
From your order to your door
How your oven gets to you.
The carrier sets it, we pass it on
We pass on the real freight price the carrier sets. We do not mark it up. When you enter your delivery address, our checkout connects to the freight carrier and calculates the cost for your shipment. What you see is what the carrier charges us to move your oven. Four things drive that number:
- Weight and size. Heavier and physically larger units cost more to move.
- Distance from our shop in Illinois. The farther you are, the higher the freight.
- Residential or commercial address. A home delivery costs more than a business delivery.
- Whether you need a liftgate. If there is a forklift at your address, you do not need one.
Residential delivery, added automatically when the delivery address is a home rather than a business.
Liftgate, added automatically when you do not have a loading dock or a forklift, so the truck can lower the pallet to the ground for you. If neither applies to you, neither is charged.
What people usually pay
Every address is different, so here is the honest ballpark before you get your real number:
- Most orders, anywhere in the country: $300 to $400.
- A midsize oven to the Midwest: $175 to $350.
- A midsize oven to California: $450 and up. California is the longest haul, and the carrier also adds a $30 special handling fee for it.
- A large oven to California: $600 and up.
If you are somewhere remote or hard for a truck to reach, the quote can come back high. If you are in an area with a lot of commercial freight traffic, it can come back very reasonable.
To see your freight cost, add the oven to your cart and continue to checkout. You are not buying anything by getting that far. It is the fastest way to see your number.
We build, wire, test, and package
We ship in 5 to 7 business days. That is how long it takes us to build, wire, test, and package your oven before it leaves the shop: a custom pallet built for your model (not a generic skid), the unit wrapped in plastic and strapped down tight, and 48-inch plywood protective skirting shielding the outside so it rides safe. You do not pay extra for any of that. It is how every oven goes out.
It rides a freight truck
Every oven leaves our shop in Illinois on a freight truck (LTL, the standard way heavy equipment moves). Transit is usually 3 to 5 days, depending on how far you are from Illinois. The time from your order to your oven at the door is the build-and-ship window plus the transit, not one or the other.
The truck arrives: inspect before you sign
When the truck arrives, one rule matters most: inspect the oven before you sign for it. Signing tells the carrier you received it in good shape, so look first. Minor dings happen in freight and are common; have the driver note anything you see on the delivery slip before you sign.
At a business with a forklift, your forklift lifts the pallet off. At a home, or anywhere without a dock or forklift, the truck's liftgate lowers the pallet to the ground. It is a heavy unit, so plan to have help and gloves on hand.
If something went wrong in transit
Refuse the shipment. Have the driver note the damage on the slip and turn it away. The driver takes it back, and we take it from there: we file the freight claim, repair or replace the oven, and reship it to you.
